SANParks Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp in the world-renowned Kruger National Park is situated on the bank of the Matjulu Spruit with a view of softly undulating hills to the east. On the northern and southern sides dry riverbeds and a dam border the camp. There are large trees along the streams and dry riverbeds. Special care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp. Berg-en-Dal is also the only camp set in a rugged mountain environment.
Berg-en-Dal offers a cafeteria and a shop, Tindlovu Restaurant, a communal laundromat, filling station, communal kitchens and ablutions, braai facilities, an auditorium and conference facilities, a basic day visitor picnic area in the camp, and a swimming pool for overnight residents.

SANParks Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp in the world-renowned Kruger National Park is situated on the bank of the Matjulu Spruit with a view of softly undulating hills to the east. On the northern and southern sides dry riverbeds and a dam border the camp. There are large trees along the streams and dry riverbeds. Special care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp. Berg-en-Dal is also the only camp set in a rugged mountain environment.

We had a great stay and slept well in our tent. We saw a lot of wildlife in the area. The ablution blocks were nice and clean. The other campers were calm. We will go there again.
Very pleasant stay. Restaurant and shop were superb. We will definitely be returning to SANParks Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp in the future.
It is a very lovely camp to stay at. Needs some maintenance though. The restaurant's food is also delicious. Service a bit slow but worth the wait.
Enjoy every moment of the trip. I do think that SANParks Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp houses need an upgrade.

We would be happy to recommend Berg en Dal Rest camp to others.
They undertook to replace the microwave the next morning. When we got back that afternoon it had not been replaced yet. Further inquiries showed that they had not had any feedback from the staff the night before. They then replaced it within minutes. Apart from that the accommodation and facilities were great. We even had a visit to our front door by a bushbuck ewe.
We rested and camped well.
The management, maintenance, friendliness and standard of service delivery are very bad.
We enjoyed it very much.
Only a 2 plate stove, no oven. Unfortunately only one plate was working, but a good microwave. Generator at SANParks Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp so loadshedding wasn't an issue.
The fixtures work but are very old. The rooms really need a newer renovation.
Place has been good for me.
We can recommend the camp to people who like nature and the outdoors. Campers were friendly neighbors and the restaurant's facilities are available for those who don't fancy a barbecue.
Could have stayed three days, but the accommodation is too expensive.
On arrival, there were not enough parking for caravans/trailers. Reception had only 2 people serving the new guests. Caravan park not clearly marked. Everybody stand however they want, especially against the fence. Ablution facilities are clean, but old. Shower curtains doesn't cut it anymore. One shower in female ablution facility are unacceptable.
The accommodation was very neat and well furnished.
The reception was great, our booking was right for us. The lady who cleaned the cottage was so thorough and friendly. Really so nice to come back after a game drive and everything is tidy.
Camp is very well located with beautiful surroundings. Rides around camp are a bit limited. Shop and restaurant both very good.
Will stay at Berg en Dal again. Everything excellent!

We know things are not easy, but the lack of maintenance in this camp is to much I stayed in a unit of which the door lock did not work and all the mosquito netting was damaged.
We had a very nice stay. Had no problem. Berg-en-dal's chalets are more modern than most camps in the Kruger. The old rondavels are showing their age. The only downside to Berg-en-Dal is that it is not centrally located, so you have to drive a long way to get to the more lush wildlife viewing areas in the South East or Central regions.

Berg-en-Dal is a very nice place and very tidy, just think it's a bit too far from all the other nice camps and you had to drive really hard and far to get back to the camp in time.
Sush a pleasant setting close to the wild.
I feel that SANParks can do more to make it affordable for all South Africans. Accommodation is not cheap at all and there is also a daily conservation fee of R105pp to be paid. This makes it unaffordable for your average family of 4 people. It remains an experience and is a really good way to just rest. Berg en Dal is a very nice camp with good accommodation, it is also nice and close for the Gautenians.

The accommodation is spacious and has everything you need. The patio is nice and big and private. It is close to excellent routes to see the Big 5.
Nice to wind down and the best to wake up and you hear a lion roar.
Clearly not much is being done to maintain the place. The sewage smelled bad just outside our unit.
Would recommend to those who love nature and prefer the tranquility of nature.
All the facilities needed are available. The cool bungalow ensured a good night's rest.

The best camp where we spent the night during the 6 days. Very peaceful with the nearby dam. Delicious food at the restaurant. The most beautiful pool of all the camps. The movie site was also clean and tidy and very well located. Would definitely recommend this camp. Have spent the night here several times and the camp remains a favorite! Just had to pay the additional camping charges as required by SanParks.
Had a nice stay. It's just a shame for the braaiers that were not covered and because the rain only allowed us to braai one night. But had a nice meal at the restaurant. They clean the place daily, but were sorry to see that they had neglected to sweep the floors. The location is good and even heard a hyena calling one morning. Will definitely visit there again.

The house was big enough for 3 persons, what was not so nice was the cleanness. In the dustbin in the bathroom was the dirt from the old tenants.

It was an incredibly fun time. Amenities were neat. Everything we needed was there. Will go again for sure.
Overall it was a pleasant experience. However, it is worth noting that the maintenance of the camp has deteriorated. The restaurant is expensive - for example, we paid R37.78 for a 330 ml can of Ice Team Lemon (without glass / ice / lemon). If you take the 10% tip into account, that can cost over R40.
Clean and neat accommodation. Beautiful pool. Saw many animals like a herd of elephants. Friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurant with delicious food.
